At ARRK North America, Vacuum Casting Low-volume Production has become a very important part of our manufacturing processes. This method allows us to produce parts at much higher speeds and lower costs. The problem is that it requires a certain level of expertise to get good-quality castings, but working with ARRK North America’s staff ensures the experience you are looking for.

Methods such as Vacuum Casting and custom 3D Printing allow us to create complex geometries and eliminate the need for expensive tooling. In addition, they also enable us to reduce cycle times and increase productivity.

Vacuum Casting Prototyping projects are part of industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Electronics, etc. Why? Because of its several advantages:

  • Cost-effective
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Quick and simple
  • High-quality parts
  • Versatile

Let us tell you how to create excellent results with Vacuum Casting and enhance your Low-Volume Production capabilities.

  1. Use the right polymers

Plastic products should be made out of the best materials possible, especially if they are going to be exposed to extreme temperatures and conditions. Polyethylene (PE) is the most commonly used polymer for making plastics. PE is relatively inexpensive and resistant to high temperatures and sunlight.

However, it does not have good UV protection qualities, which can cause problems when exposed to the sun’s rays. Other common plastics used for making parts include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which has good UV protection qualities but tends to break down at higher temperatures. If you need to make parts for the outside environment, you should use PVC instead of PE, as it will hold up better under harsh conditions.

  1. Choose the right additives

The two most important things to consider when selecting additives are their compatibility with the base material and their effectiveness at preventing degradation. There are many different types of additives you can add to improve the physical properties of the plastic. These include stabilizers, antioxidants, lubricants, flame retardants, and processing aids. Stabilizers are chemicals that help keep the material together and prevent it from breaking apart. Antioxidants protect the material from oxidation, while lubricants help reduce friction between moving surfaces. Flame retardants help stop fires from starting. Finally, processing aids give the plastic its final shape.

  1. Test your finished products

You should always test your products before selling them to ensure they meet your expectations. Make sure you buy enough samples to cover your entire project. Once you receive your samples back, check the color and feel of your products. They should always match your specifications to ensure a successful result.
