Main topics

The material best suited for a specific manufactured part with a urethane casting compound is determined by the product’s needs and the customer’s requirements. Getting to know the difference between urethane casting materials can provide a glimpse of what determines their use. Rigid and elastomeric materials are the two types of materials we will discuss.

There are also finishes and colors we produce to choose from as options. For example, urethane casting compounds can be colored or tinted to a wide range of color options matching PMS Pantone, Federal Standard, RAL, or even supplied color samples. In addition, parts can have a smooth finish, high polish, or textured finish.

An extensive range of material properties is available from ARRK with our urethane casting process:

Rigid urethane casting materials

ARRK North America, Inc.’s rigid urethane casting materials include ABS-like and clear to fire-retardant prototypes, cast in UL94V0 rated urethane and semi-rigid prototypes that emulate the properties of polypropylene. The latter is a tough, impact-resistant material particularly suited to prototypes of automotive trim and casings for hand tools. Furthermore, parts made with our rigid urethane casting compounds have mechanical properties close to thermoplastic properties and are ideal for high-strength parts.

Elastomeric urethane casting materials

ARRK produces elastomeric urethane castings ranging from 20 Shore A to 90 Shore A. The materials can be used for everything from keypads, and buttons to O-rings. In addition, ARRK has mastered overmolding elastomers on rigid casting materials and CNC parts. As a result, elastomeric materials are perfect for functional assembly and visual evaluation.
